A Snowy Copper Mountain Engagement Session at the Top of American Eagle Gondola
2/12/2026
Some engagement sessions feel like a moment. This one felt like a full-on winter movie scene — the kind where everything gets quiet, the snow falls in big dreamy flakes, and you can’t help but smile the entire time.
This Copper Mountain engagement session was especially sweet because the proposal had happened the night before. The couple had traveled in for a ski trip, and he surprised her with a photo session to celebrate (which is honestly such a thoughtful move — you get to stay in that “just engaged” glow a little longer).
We rode the American Eagle Gondola up to the top of the mountain, and the snowfall only got better the higher we went. Huge flakes drifting down, soft light, and that fresh-snow hush that makes everything feel extra magical.
They were in town with her whole family for a ski trip, and it turned into a celebration weekend in the best way.
Not only did we capture their engagement photos, but we also made time for a few quick family group photos — because when everyone you love is already together on a mountain, you take advantage of it.
And the absolute highlight? Her grandmother was there with them… and her 80th birthday was the next day. Eighty. And still hitting the slopes. Icon behavior. We had to document that energy.
Copper Mountain is already stunning, but the conditions that day took it to another level.
The snow was coming down in large, visible flakes — the kind that shows up beautifully in photos and instantly adds movement and atmosphere. It turned the entire mountaintop into a winter wonderland. The couple leaned into it completely: cozy, excited, and totally in the moment.
Those are the sessions I love most — where we’re not forcing anything, just letting the setting and the story do what they do.

Because this was a ski-trip engagement (and because they’re genuinely fun humans), we incorporated a few personal touches:
It was the perfect mix of romantic, editorial, and candid — with just enough “Colorado ski weekend” personality to make the images feel uniquely theirs.

If you’re thinking about engagement photos at Copper Mountain (or anywhere in the mountains), here are a few tips that make the experience smoother:
This session was such a perfect reminder that engagement photos don’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. A proposal the night before, family together on a ski trip, a grandma turning 80 and still shredding, and a snowy gondola ride to the top of Copper Mountain… that’s the kind of story you’ll want to remember exactly as it felt.
If you’re planning a mountain engagement session and want it to feel calm, fun, and true to you, I’d love to help you bring it to life.
Ready when you are. 🤍
