A Sage & Pastel Franciscan Event Center Wedding | Aurora & Centennial, Colorado

This is going to go down as the wedding day where my heart felt completely full from start to finish. If you’ve been following along with my work for a while, you might recognize Scarlette and Jason! We first met at the Rocky Mountain Bridal Show, and since then, I’ve had the joy of photographing them all over Colorado—from their engagements among the blooming lilacs at Denver City Park to a breathtaking sunset at Chautauqua Park and Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder. Needless to say, by the time June 6th rolled around, I felt less like their photographer and more like a longtime friend cheering them on.

And cheering them on was exactly what everyone in attendance was doing. You see, Scarlette and Jason have been planning this wedding for years. Over the years, their plans were postponed due to the heavy loss of family members and unexpected personal setbacks. There were moments when it felt like the day might never come, but they held onto each other and kept moving forward. To see them finally standing at the altar at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora was a massive victory. This wasn’t just a wedding day; it was a testament to their resilience, their love, and their deep devotion to family.

Because family is at the very center of who Scarlette and Jason are, their day was a beautiful, intentional blending of traditions. They shared a full Catholic Mass that incorporated sacred Mexican marriage traditions, which was so incredibly moving to witness.

After the ceremony, we headed over to The Franciscan Event Center in Centennial. One of the absolute biggest wins of the day was how the venue structured their timeline. They allowed the wedding party and immediate family exclusive access to the space before any of the guests arrived. If you are a wedding photographer (or a bride planning her day!), you know how rare and wonderful this is! We were able to leverage the gorgeous, manicured grounds of The Franciscan for family formals, bridal party portraits, and stunning romantic portraits of Scarlette and Jason. It created this calm, serene, and peaceful oasis for the two of them to just breathe, laugh, and soak in the fact that they were finally married before the whirlwind of the reception began.

And oh my goodness, what a reception it was! The room was styled in the prettiest palette of sage green, light pink, and soft summer pastels. Guests were treated to an incredible dessert, nacho, and elote cart by 3 Gummy Bears Snack Cart, but the real highlight was the energy on the dance floor. They honored their heritage with a traditional family waltz, where Scarlette and Jason shared a dance with every single family member in the room—a beautiful nod to the village that supported them to this point. And then came the “víbora de la mar” (the sea viper dance)! It was delightfully chaotic, incredibly fun, and had the entire room laughing and celebrating.

Scarlette and Jason, you did it. You finally had the wedding of your dreams, and it was more beautiful and joyful than anyone could have imagined. Thank you for trusting me to capture these moments from Boulder to Denver and everywhere in between. I went home with a full heart and a camera roll full of images I am so proud of.
