There is something so incredibly special about getting to document a family’s legacy, especially when it’s tied to a place they hold dear. This sweet family travels from Texas to Frisco, Colorado, every single summer to stay in a condo their grandfather purchased decades ago. While they’ve had family photos taken back home in Texas before, this was their very first time having professional photos captured here in Colorado! I don’t think we could have asked for a better evening.

The boys, who are 6 and 8, showed up ready to play (and yes, they had me cracking up with their expertly timed fart noises!). They all wore the most amazing cowboy boots, tying together a gorgeous color palette of blues and burnt oranges that popped perfectly against the summer scenery. And we can’t forget the dogs! They were living their absolute best lives, running around and exploring every inch of our location.

While the fun and chaos of a family session is always a blast, the real heart of our time together was watching how mom and dad loved on their boys. We made sure to capture individual portraits of each parent with each son, and those sweet, intentional moments are some of my absolute favorites from the entire gallery.

The celebration continued beyond just the family dynamics, too. Just a few months ago, mom sadly lost her engagement ring. Two weeks before our session, they finally replaced it, and dad surprised her with a sweet “re-proposal”! Because of this fresh milestone, we carved out time during the shoot for a few romantic portraits of just the two of them. Mom and dad were the absolute best models, easily shifting from their playful sides with the boys into a sentimental, romantic space. Getting to capture these fresh, celebratory photos of them giggling and holding each other was the perfect way to wrap up our time together.
