There’s something so special about weddings that feel completely personal — and Savanah and Kevan’s backyard celebration was exactly that. On a golden September afternoon, surrounded by their closest loved ones (including their two golden retrievers!), they said “I do” in the most heartfelt and authentic way possible — right in their own backyard.

A Wedding Day at Home

Savanah and Kevan chose to host their wedding at home, transforming their backyard into the perfect romantic setting for their fall celebration. Their two golden retrievers, Guppy and Ajax, were a big part of the day — they weren’t just guests; they were official members of the wedding party!

In true Colorado fashion, the couple led their own ceremony, a beautiful and personal touch made possible by Colorado’s self-solemnization law, which allows couples to marry without an officiant. Guppy and Ajax even served as their witnesses, leaving adorable nose print “signatures” on the marriage certificate — a moment that perfectly captured the heart of this day.

A First Look Among the Red Rocks

Before the ceremony, the couple shared a quiet first look in a nearby open space, surrounded by red rock formations glowing in the late-summer sun. The landscape was the perfect complement to their soft pink color palette, and it created a stunning backdrop for their portraits.

After the ceremony, we returned to that same spot for some golden-hour photos — just the two of them, soaking in the joy of being newly married.

A Cozy Backyard Reception

As the sun set, guests gathered on the couple’s patio for an intimate reception under bistro lights. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed — twinkling lights above, a cozy seating area around a fire pit, and laughter filling the night air.

One of the sweetest details of the evening was the cake — baked and decorated by Savanah herself, after taking a cake decorating class. It was the perfect personal touch to end their perfect day.
